Palms Grill in Sonoma, CA was started by Mike Shatnawi. While attending Sonoma State University in 1986, Mike started as a dishwasher in the restaurant business. As a determined and detailed worker, he was promoted to prep cook. His passion and initiative were noticed by the owners of Peppermill and within the first year Mike was promoted to the position of cook.
From there, a passion for serving fresh food from scratch and expressing his artistic abilities flourished through his cooking. Mike continued as a corporate cook for more than 23 years in an effort to fulfill a desire to own his very own full service restaurant. He learned everything about the restaurant business; from being a bus boy to General Manager. He honed his skills as a creative director, mentor and leader in the industry.
In 2008, Mike would often visit Sonoma with his wife Lisa. They fell in love with the tight knit community Sonoma had to offer and decided to open a flagship Palms Grill, right here in town. Mike set out to offer his guests an experience they would never forget - including generous portions, inventive menu selections, fresh and local ingredients and a warm, comfortable and casual setting. Mike's dream of designing, creating and running an upscale diner is his passion and you will see that every time you come in.
